Just a Thought

This is all just hypothetical. But, would you find it weird, if say, your boyfriend's mother has him buy her feminine hygiene products? What if he had to buy her an enema on one occasion? Would that be weird? If, say, her son is 30 years old. And, in theory, she is perfectly capable of going to the store and purchasing these items herself. I'm not asking for myself mind you. Just hypothetically-speaking. Just a random thought popping into my head about a hypothetical situation that might happen somewhere.

Labor Day Weekend

Boyfriend bought me flowers for coming home safely from Omaha on Monday. What a sweetie. My mom and I went to visit my brother over a wonderful excuse for a three-day Labor Day weekend. We didn't really do a whole lot, but I enjoyed it just the same. We went to Nebraska Furniture Mart, which is an insanely large place with an insanely large number of idiots people shopping for everything from armoires to zebra-printed area rugs (everything from A-Z, get it?!).


My brother bought a bedroom set, which incidentally looks exactly nothing like this:

We ate at this really suave restaurant called O Dining that had really good Asian cuisine. I had Hot Braised Chicken with brown rice. It was not nearly spicy enough yummy. It didn't make my nose run like I wanted it too though. On Monday, before we left, we ate lunch at the Cheesecake Factory where I ordered a low-calorie, weight management Pear and Endive Salad Crispy Chicken Costoletta and Dulce de Leche cheesecake. At least I took the cheesecake to go.

After driving the speed limit hauling ass for five hours cursing at left-lane drivers the whole way, I got home just in time to spend some quality time with the XBox 360 boyfriend and go to stupid work the next morning.

Ta da!!! Two posts in one day! Anything to get out of work I did this whole post on my 15 minute break. Ahem. Sure.

Keep Her Close

Today Olivia is having strabismus surgery to correct her eyes, which should really help her vision. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers today. Jodi is really nervous about the surgery. It's an outpatient surgery and a very common eye surgery, but Olivia has been through so much already it is hard for her parents to put her through anything that requires a visit to a hospital. She will have to be put on a ventilator during the surgery, which I'm sure is the most nerve-racking part of the whole thing for her parents. Remember Olivia was on a ventilator the first two months of her life.

I am confident Olivia will sail through this surgery with her usual spunk. I'm excited for her vision to improve to see how this will affect how she "views" the world around her. She's an amazing little girl.

Just Bailey and Me

Savannah at A Kid's Life inspired me to make this family sticker. It looks just like my family! Except for the fact that I don't carry a briefcase to work (just my March of Dimes messenger bag-BAM!) or wear dresses. Nor does my hair do that flippy thing (unless I'm fresh from the hairdresser-shout out to Cha-Cha at Savage Salon). Oh and I have opposable thumbs. But Bailey looks just like that! Except she's about twice that size and has larger ears. And a much longer tail. Okay, so my family looks nothing like that, but it was still fun to make.

Today is Olivia's 1st Birthday! And what a year it has been. Born 17 weeks too soon, lost her twin brother Logan, spent 105 days in the NICU...still she perseveres. Olivia, may your next year be filled with love, laughter and learning as you grow and develop into a toddler. And may your first cold be over swiftly!

Bad Blogger!

Yes, I know, I've been slacking in the posting lately. I have no excuse. I haven't been in Japan protesting dolphin hunting or negotiating world peace at the United Nations. Nor have I been busy learning nuclear physics or how to speak Mandarin. I've just been incredibly lazy. Surprise, surprise! I did go to Texas last week for my grandparents 60th Anniversary. I'll post pictures someday I suppose. In the meantime, here's some pictures taken last year in Texas. I like these pictures better anyway since I weighed about 20 pounds less.

Social Interaction

Andrew and I went to River City Brewery on Saturday for Marilee's 30th Birthday party. Amazing feat really. I had a good time, but as always in social settings, I was anxious and not entirely comfortable. It seems I'm getting worse as I get older. We left after dinner while the rest of the bunch went on to the bars for lots of drinking. Not a smart idea for me anymore as every time I drink now I have periods of blackout. Alcohol no longer mixes well with my antidepressants and social anxiety. Okay, so it never really did, but I could at least pretend it did. Now...not so much. Just wanted to post pictures to show proof that I do actually venture out occasionally.

Yes, I'm alive! And, yes, that's me skydiving! I will post more pictures later, but I just wanted to do a quick post in case anyone was wondering if I died or not. Yes, the chute opened! It was awesome. My favorite part (of course) was the free fall when we first jumped out of the plane before my dude pulled the chute. I could do that all day. The only downfall to the day was that it had to be the hottest day of the year thus far, and it took 6 hours to get done!!! Two tandem jumpers went at a time, each time took about 30-40 minutes. Then a group of experienced single jumpers got to go up in between each group of tandem jumpers. I didn't get done until after 3:30 (we got there at 9:30). Andrew, my parents and my brother came to watch me, which was great. More pics later...
